Catching up with the Whalers

27 01 2009

The Giguere post got me wondering what other players spent some time in Hartford.  Here’s a look at past Whalers still active in the NHL.

Chris Pronger (93-95), now with Anaheim:

Bobby Holik (90-92), now with New Jersey, but I couldn’t find a card:

Michael Nylander (92-94), now with Washington:

Brendan Shanahan (95-96), now with New Jersey:

Not pictured: Marek Malik, who refused to pose for pictures.  He currently plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Anyone think of anyone I missed?

I was going to say Geoff Sanderson, but then realized he hasn’t been on a team this season since the Oilers decided to not sign him.

Wow – hard to believe that there are so few Whalers left. I thought about Sami Kapanen, but it turns out that he’s playing in Finland this year. Jeff O’Neill was in camp with the Hurricanes this fall, but then retired. Glen Wesley retired after the 2007-08 season – he was the last Whaler still with the organization.
