Watch Willy go for history

Willy Taveras, happy that any team wanted him

Willy Taveras, one of the Reds big and unfortunate signings this offseason is currently mired in an 0-34 slump at the plate, and that’s not just counting hits.  It’s actually been 34 plate appearances since Willy Taveras has reached base.  Period.

Tonight, with an 0-5 performance, Willy would have the longest streak without getting on base since at least 1954 (source).

I’ll be honest, I don’t think it happens tonight, and that’s only because if Taveras goes 0-5, that means the rest of the Reds are getting some hits, and I’m not to confident about that.

I was going to bet dayf some cards on the series, but I’m not too confident about that one, either.

Wait, I shouldn’t be such a pessimist, right?  Okay, how’s this:  I’m optimistic the Reds win a game from the Braves this series.

That’s better, right?  Go Reds!

One pitch, one hit. Shows what you know.

now raindelayed. How awful would that be for Taveras to have his hit wiped out and then go 0-5 the next game…

You shoulda bet me on who breaks their slump first: Tavares or Chipper.

Looks like they both did. Any chance you’ll trade your former slumper for ours?
